Trains on stamps - indeed, on almost anything - is my favorite collecting area, so I am offering this set of pages of trains on advertising and patriotic covers to share some of my prizes, as well as a few that got away - so far.



STORES & FACTORIES

These are covers that show a store or factory and its environs, with a train included in the scene as part of the actual surroundings. They are quite plentiful, which attests to the importance of railroads to industry in the US - a century ago every factory needed rail access to receive its raw materials and to ship its finished products. Companies showed trains in their ads to tell the world their business was modern and competitive. Some of these are real gems!
