Above, post-independence postcard headed: "We have been and will be" and depicting Sokols bearing their banner; addressed to a soldier, a border guard, serving with the 23rd Battalion, 4th Company, at a village near Hostoun na Sumave.

Franked with Hradcany stamps value 15h. cancelled with provisional bi-lingual postmark of Mesto nad Metuji/Neustadt an der Mettau, German removed, dated 17.8.19, and Austrian-type cancel of Huttersdorf applied as a transit mark.

Translated the poem reads:
We have been and will be,
that is our motto,
which has always carried
the Czech flag to victory.

In the name of our country,
let us take courage
to cope with life and
defeat our enemies.

Below, The Czechoslovak Field Post in Siberia
Unused card produced for the Sokol Gala on 25, 24 VIII 1919 (misprint, should be 23, 24), in Krasnojarsk , which is in central Asia, on the Trans-Siberia Railway, about halfway between Moscow and Vladivostok. Printed by the 3rd Division of the Legion.

Regional festival in Znojmo

Note the hand-written date correction on the second card above. Was the event delayed, or did the printer goof? The "N" of "SPRNA" is also reversed, which argues for the latter. The festival was held on August 24, 1919. The poster stamp below, with the same design, has the correct date, with the month spelled correctly.

Sevastopol? 1919?

The first card below has "Sevastopol" pencilled on the back, and was advertised in the eBay auction where I acquired it as "Real photo of Czech Legion's Sokol festival in Sevastopol, with Czech and USA bunting. Issued around 1919." The second card, which I acquired separately, is clearly from the same event.
